Meet Report

22nd to 25th April 2011 - Plockton Station Bunkhouse, Plockton (Easter)

The EMC hadnt stayed at the Plockton Station Bunkhouse before and it didnt disappoint (apart from the small fridge!). I'd arranged to meet Alan R a night early as the forecast for Friday looked great so we headed to Skye for Pinnacle Ridge & Naismiths Route. Following a refreshing pint in the Slig we headed back to the bunkhouse to find that lots of folk had arrived and my beer had been displaced from the fridge to make room for food - some folk just dont have their priorities right!

Being on the station the 06.30 train was a novel alarm call. Saturday weather wasnt looking great but everyone still headed off for big days. Bill B went to tick a top on Slioch, Alan R the Coire Lair round, Ian, Kate, Claire, Mark & Allan S went to Bheinn Bhan, Kenny & Alison bagged some Skye Grahams, Martin & Christine headed on the ferry to Raasay for Dun Caan, Gillian & Fiona C did Sgumain Cionntich and Anne C & myself did Beinn nan Caorach, Beinn na-h Eaglaise & Beinn Sgitheall. The weather turned out showery and cold and the high tops were shrouded in cloud for much of the day.

Sunday weather was a disappointment, rain & low cloud. This didnt deter the team of Allan S, Ian, Mark, Kate & Claire who headed for a lengthy day on Maoile Lunndaidh. The majority of us opted for copious amounts of tea and 2nd & 3rd breakfasts before finally heading out. Kenny, Alison, Anne C & Alan R headed for the easy tick of Sgurr a Chaorachain from the bealach na ba, I did Sgurr na Coinntich and many others did short walks around plockton.

Easter Monday arrived with the prospect of improving forecast and with the majority staying NW for the week lots of activity packing rucksacks & making plans for various backpacks. A good weekend and a great base for lots of hills.
